The legal team at Pure provides a search and selection service to a broad range of multi-national clients within the private practice, financial services, commerce and industry and not for profit sectors.
Our consultants work in small teams where they are able to focus on their clients’ needs and requirements and therefore provide an exceptional level of service and success rates on assignments.
Private Practice
We have particular expertise in a number of areas where we hold pre-eminent expertise and market knowledge namely: tax and tax litigation; restructuring and insolvency; and energy, trade and commodities.
In-house
Our consultants are sector specialists and focus on placing mid to senior level lawyers in FTSE-listed businesses as well as mid-cap companies and SMEs. They have established networks developed within each of their specialist sectors. As such, they are entrenched in their markets and able to offer a bespoke service.
International
We have capability throughout Europe and the Middle East from our London office and in 2008 we opened an office in Hong Kong that provides a search service to private practice clients throughout the Asia Pac region.
Our specialist teams are able to provide in-depth market knowledge on their markets and have a first class record in completing challenging assignments on behalf of their clients.

Our people
In-house - UK
Karen specialises in placing lawyers from mid-level to General Counsel level on a permanent basis into a range of financial services clients, including retail and investment banks, insurance companies and professional services organisations.
She initially qualified as a lawyer at CMS Cameron McKenna and practised as a projects lawyer before moving to Speechly Bircham LLP as a commercial lawyer. She then decided to move into legal recruitment and joined a global recruitment company, where she placed lawyers of all levels into FTSE350 companies.
Bianca has worked in legal search and selection since 2001. With a breadth of experience that spans FTSE-listed firms, multinationals and SMEs, she has established a successful track record of bolstering existing legal functions and helping to generate value from bringing legal in-house for the first time.
Bianca joined Pure in April 2007 and utilised her extensive network of contacts to help establish the Legal Commerce Search business. As an experienced consultant she continues to specialise in placing lawyers in-house from mid-level to General Counsel, throughout EMEA.
Sally-Anne
Furber

Sally-Anne works as a strategic consultant, working with the legal team on a range of matters from business development and client events, through to marketing and advertising.
Sally-Anne practised as a corporate lawyer with Clifford Chance for five years, before moving to the in-house legal team at Hudson Global Resources in 2004. Sally-Anne worked at Hudson for a further five years, where she managed the in-house legal team, and also recruited across the financial services, energy and telecoms sectors.
Sally-Anne graduated with a degree in jurisprudence from New College, Oxford.
In her spare time, Sally-Anne loves reading, theatre, scuba diving and travel.
In-house - EMEA
James operates within the tax and finance sectors in the EMEA region. His remit includes Heads of Business, Tax and Finance Directors and Senior Analysts.
Having spent four years recruiting within capital markets for a UK plc in the London market, James moved to Japan to start up and launch the brand in Tokyo. Within four years, James established the brand as a market leader in financial services and commerce recruitment, both in the contingent and retained sectors.
James graduated in Accounting and Law from Kingston University.
James is an enthusiastic sportsman with a keen interest in cooking and travel.
Bianca has worked in legal search and selection since 2001. Energy Trading & Commodities
David works with banks, law firms and corporates in the Energy, Trade and Commodities sector. He focuses on search and selection mandates for senior and mid level lawyers and compliance professionals. He has recently completed a number of high level retained searches including a General Counsel and Global Head of Compliance for two commodities trading houses.
His sector focus gives him complete coverage of this market and enables him to have a thorough understanding of both the businesses and individuals within it.
David joined Pure from another leading global recruitment business.
He studied History at University College London and successfully completed the GDL and LPC. Rather than taking up his training contract David decided to pursue a career in legal recruitment. David’s interests include following Gloucester Rugby Club, most music genres and fine food and wine. Gradually eating his way round the capital’s excellent restaurants means the gym necessarily features too!
Tax
Chris focuses on placing partners and associates with expertise in corporate restructuring and insolvency. Chris deals with roles within UK/International and US private practice firms, in addition to legal opportunities in corporate recovery teams for financial services firms.
Prior to joining Pure, Chris worked at a number of leading law firms and a large legal publishing house. He studied law at university and completed the LPC.
Restructuring & Insolvency
Tim leads our Restructuring Practice and focuses on search assignments for mid level and senior appointments within Financial & Operational Restructuring, Business Support & Workout, Debt Advisory and Distressed Private Equity.
He joined Pure in 2006 to develop our Specialised Finance offering and also has extensive experience of recruiting at senior levels within leveraged, mezzanine and acquisition finance, and private equity.
He previously established and managed the banking division of a medium sized recruitment firm where he gained over seven years' experience recruiting for a variety of different areas within banking and financial services. Tim graduated in Economics and Business Studies from Sheffield University.
Tim has a passion for travel and has visited over 35 countries. Prior to joining Pure, Tim took a 12 month sabbatical and travelled extensively in South America, Australasia and Japan.
Chris focuses on placing partners and associates with expertise in corporate restructuring and insolvency. Chris deals with roles within UK/International and US private practice firms, in addition to legal opportunities in corporate recovery teams for financial services firms.
Prior to joining Pure, Chris worked at a number of leading law firms and a large legal publishing house. He studied law at university and completed the LPC.
Private Practice - Asia Pacific
Roz leads the Asia Legal Private Practice business from our Hong Kong office.
Providing comprehensive search and advised recruitment solutions to the top Legal Firms in the region, Roz has developed a loyal following of clients.
Through strategic solutions such as Team or Senior Partner moves, or market mapping and profiling from Associate through to Partner, Roz and her team provide whole market solutions.
A keen traveller, Roz enjoys learning about the rich culture and history of the region.
Andrew helps lead our Asian Legal business from our Hong Kong office.
Prior to joining Pure, Andrew created a strong reputation in legal search and selection in both Hong Kong and Australia. In late 2007 Andrew moved out to Hong Kong and worked for an international legal recruitment firm.
Andrew is a specialist in the private practice legal market, where he undertakes search and selection assignments. He has successfully placed equity partners, counsels and associates into Magic Circle, offshore and top ranked US law firms.
Andrew graduated university with a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Law.
Andrew enjoys travelling to new and exciting locations. He is a keen skier and tennis player, and has participated at national level for skiing.
Research
Vanessa is our Head of Research. With over eight years’ experience in market mapping, candidate sourcing, headhunting, profiling and name generation in the market, Vanessa has worked both in a banking recruitment environment where she covered both front-office and legal projects and in an external research agency. She joined Pure in 2007.
Michelle is the Head of Research for the EMEA region. She maps the markets to aide consultants in sourcing the best talent in their given sector.
Michelle joined Pure from an international boutique search firm specialising in private wealth management and worked on a retained basis in the USA, UK and Asia for a number of high profile financial institutions. Prior to this Michelle was a Researcher for the Japanese Government for four years in the oil and gas sector where she worked on various exploration and production projects globally with world leading commodities companies.
Michelle graduated from SOAS with a Japanese BA and received a scholarship with the Japanese Government. In her spare time Michelle likes to go snowboarding and is a CASI trained instructor.
Jonathan is a research associate within the in-house legal team at Pure Search, who specialise in the placement of mid-level to General Counsel-level lawyers into a range of commerce and industry and financial services clients. Jonathan is often the first point of contact for candidates in our network.
Jonathan joined Pure in 2010 after having previously trained at the Bar and graduating in Law and Government from the University of Ulster.
Jonathan is a keen runner with an enthusiasm for watching ruby and football. To relax he enjoys the theatre, live music and travel.
