Pure Search are instructed by a leading US law firm who are ranked as one of the leading Employment practices in the market. The Employment team have a significant focus on their lawyers benefiting from hybrid/remote working, low billable target hours and significant scope for international client secondments.
The Company:
Our client is a Mid-Atlantic law firm who break the mould amongst the US law firms, with billable targets set at c.1400 hours, the lowest of any of the US firms in the market and a focus on working efficiently, rather than simply long hours.
They offer a very progressive and forward-thinking hybrid/agile working policy, which allows all of their lawyers to spend some of their working time either at home, abroad in one of their international offices or working from an international destination of their choosing. In addition, they have a track record of international mini-secondments, often sending many of their lawyers for 5-6 week secondments to their clients across Europe and the US.
The firm offer an informal, fun and relaxed culture with a lot of interaction with their offices across the US and Asia Pacific, as well as annual retreats to exotic locations as part of their global Employment group.
The Role:
The role would suit someone with anywhere from 10-15% of their current practice dedicated to international work who is looking for greater exposure to international employment matters. You will be someone who has a willingness to get stuck into matters and take yourself outside of your comfort zone, getting stuck into a really varied international caseload.
The role will typically be made up of 80% advisory matters (not solely corporate support) and 20% contentious work. Recent matters have included advising on:
- the sale and acquisition of a major pharma client across 15-20 jurisdictions;
- a major multinational on a global project to update employment contracts and handbooks across multiple jurisdictions;
- hybrid working policies;
- discreet work for clients on employee relations and employee conduct issues.
About You:
- 2-3 years post-qualification experience of Employment law matters, including some international or advisory work;
- Consistently strong academic background including a minimum 2:1 from a Russell Group university;
- Experience of advising on employment contracts, handbooks, employee relations and conduct and tribunal claims;
- A desire to work for a larger, more international law firm with exposure to a varied caseload but with a significant focus on flexible working to fit around your lifestyle and working patterns.
